ABOUT US

About Us – PRCA Mission

The Public Relations Council of Alabama is committed to PROMOTING professional and ethical practice, DEVELOPING the potential of current and future practitioners, BUILDING a community of professionals, and ADVOCATING for the profession through effective member action and volunteer leadership.

Mobile Chapter

The Mobile Chapter of the PRCA is the local network for communications and public relations professionals and students. Our members are from all facets of the profession including marketing, public relations, employee communications, corporate communications, nonprofit, governmental agencies, freelance consultants, writer, editors, and more.

Networking

Monthly luncheons, professional workshops, annual conferences and social events give members many opportunities to share and grow.

Professional Development

Meetings, workshops and annual conferences showcase engaging, informative speakers talking about topics of interest to all levels of PR professionals. Plus, we strive to host at least one local professional workshop each year and the state hosts at least one workshop open to all PRCA members. Workshops are open to non-members, but PRCA members usually receive a discounted rate.

Recognition

At our annual state conference, PRCA recognizes our members’ best work with Medallion Awards. The regional Southern Public Relations Federation also honors members with Lantern Awards.

Leadership

The Mobile chapter needs sixteen leaders to fill the board each year. The state PRCA organization has ten more opportunities for leadership. Special events like the state conference and community service projects create opportunities to serve.

Code Of Ethics

All members of PRCA have agreed to abide by a Code of Ethics and do their part to uphold and further the state of the public relations profession. Go to the SPRF web site to review the Code of Ethics.

Accreditation

Once meeting the Universal Accreditation Board’s criteria, PRCA members can take the nationally recognized Accreditation Examination. Learn more about the many benefits of earning Accreditation at www.praccreditation.org. Accredited members may use the designation “APR” after their names.
